This is a case where we struggled with secondary shearing and chipping during the processing of 4.5mm thick plates (SAPH-440-OD). Traditionally, maintenance was required after about 20,000 shots, but our company proposed and implemented a micro R treatment on the cutting edge and polishing before and after coating. As a result of changing the coating type to AICrN, the tool life was extended to an astonishing 150,000 shots.
